mundaka left wave

Mundaka is a must for all surfers, as the town is synonymous with surfing and its popular and world famous “left wave”. This is an impressive wave of up to 4 metres in height and 400 m in length, considered the best of its kind in the whole of Europe, and has made this coastal town in the Urdaibai Reserve into a paradise for lovers of surfing.

The port is the heart of the town and is one of its quaintest features.

There are several sandy beaches around the town. As well as watching the surfers, the visitor can also delight in beautiful views of Izaro Island, Mount Ogoño and the estuary, the most emblematic feature of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.
