Llanes is a fishing port town with an impressive old quarter, fishing tradition, ethnography, folklore, gastronomy and beaches, all overshadowed by the majestic Picos de Europa mountain range. Its culture is simultaneously traditional and cutting-edge, full of stories of “Indianos” – Spanish emigrants who struck gold in the Americas and returned with their fortunes, love-struck film directors etc etc… That’s Llanes.
It is one of the oldest tourist resorts in Asturias and boasts one of the best-preserved old quarters in the whole of the Principality, featuring numerous palaces and stately homes adorned with coats of arms, as well as the Basilica and endless shops, restaurants and cider bars which ensure a lively ambience throughout the year.
Information obtained from the official tourism web of Asturias.
