noja beach cantabria

Situated between the estuary of the River Quejo and Brusco Point, its coastline extends in a succession of beaches which are the real tourist attraction of the town.

Ris Beach, with four kilometres of fine sand, is undoubtedly the most popular in Noja, both because of the quality of its services and easy access, and for its summer holiday infrastructure.  Trengandin Beach is a stretch of six kilometres of golden sand and its privileged north-eastern orientation makes it one of the calmest beaches in Cantabria.

There also exist wetlands of great ecological value in the area, justifying their inclusion within the Natural Marshland Reserve of Santoña and Noja.

From a historical point of view, Noja is proud to be the birthplace of Luis Vicente de Velasco e Isla, Captain of the Spanish Royal Navy ship which defended Morro Castle at the entrance to the port of Havana against British attack.
